Our poultry and pork comes from the UK, and is wherever possible Norfolk or Suffolk from approved suppliers who must have a fully integrated supply chain to ensure full control over all aspects of our poultry and pork, including feed and animal welfare. All the poultry and pork used on our menu choices is traceable right back to the farms on which the animals were raised.
Our eggs come from local East Anglian suppliers. We take care to ensure that all our eggs conform to the 'Lion' mark code of practice and suppliers are independently audited.
Our milk comes from fresh dairy milk from the UK and the school milk is now semi-skimmed.
Our potatoes come from either East Anglia or Holland depending on what they are used for. Crops are inspected regularly to ensure a high quality and correct storage.
Our vegetables are a mixture of fresh and frozen and are supplied either from our frozen food supplier, Brakes, or our local greengrocer based in Norwich. Fresh vegetables are sourced from East Anglia wherever possible. Our salad ingredients are sourced locally when in season and at other times from EU countries as they are available.
Our fish, the salmon comes from Alaskan wild salmon and is monitored by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). The haddock is sourced from North Atlantic waters and the tuna is Princess tuna, skipjack or yellow fin. In the fishcakes and fingers the fish used is cod from North Atlantic waters and hoki caught in Australian waters. All the fish as with meat has full traceability so that the companies we use can always trace where it came from.
Our drinks meet new government guidelines and the only drinks available are water, skimmed or semi skimmed milk, pure fruit juices, yoghurt or milk drinks with less than 5% sugar. Artificial sweeteners are not used to flavour water, a pure fruit juice is used for this purpose.
