From nine regional depots, Norfolk County Services carry out a wide variety of grounds work, and provides grounds maintenance services, to clients throughout the East Anglia region.

Grass care on fine lawns to playing fields, hedge planting and cutting, ornamental and shrub borders are all services provided to private and local authority clients.

Specialists in sports facility construction including bowls greens, cricket squares and playing fields.

The Grounds Division maintain school playing fields, hospital grounds, cemeteries, housing and amenity sites, and verges.

Other services include play area inspections, sports club grounds marking, play equipment installation and maintenance, and safety surfacing.

Landscaping Team
The NCS Landscaping Team tender for a range of hard and soft landscaping work from Local Authorities, schools and the private sector.

Typical work will vary from general highways planting, screen planting, contract spraying and overseeding of playing fields and open areas, to the laying of decking and paving, and the erection of fencing.

Examples

In Wisbech, Orchard C of E School had internal courtyard that they required to be completely covered with decking. The 244m2 area took two of NCS Landscaping Team four weeks to complete with the work carried out during the summer break in order to minimise disruption to the day-to-day school curriculum.

When a new flyover system was built just outside Kings Lynn in northwest Norfolk, the NCS Landscape Team were awarded the £100k contract to landscape and plant the central roundabout and verges. Over 2060 trees were involved, including 137 semi-mature trees and 383 conifers. The bedding areas required 14,046 shrubs, 2,184 Herbaceous plants and 7,000 mixed bulbs.

At the prestigious new bus terminus in Norwich, NCS had to work to a very tight deadline for planting the areas of subtle landscaping as the grand opening followed closely on completion of the main building works.

Grounds Advisors
The specialist Grounds Advisors at NCS work primarily with local primary, middle and high schools and County Council sites such as libraries and Social Service facilities throughout the County.
|
|
They are retained on annual renewable contracts with service level agreements designed to suit the requirements of the client organisation.
Their role covers:

Advice on all aspects of the grounds maintenance, development and utilisation

Support for schools development sites such as wildlife areas, willow structures, bulb planting and play areas

Acting as grounds inspectors for district and parish councils
-
Providing tree inspection and advice and co-ordinating tree maintenance work with aboricultural contractors and district/parish councils
-
Acting as contractor monitors for grounds work projects
