The main components of such service can include:
- Procurement of equipment (standard stock and specials) materials
- Delivery of items to service user's homes and to hospitals, where stock is held to support hospital discharges. Deliveries of equipment, including separate collection vehicles to avoid contamination.
- Installation of equipment and minor adaptations
- Maintenance and testing of equipment
- Repairs and exchanges
- Collections of equipment that is no longer required
- Cleaning and refurbishment of returned equipment.
- Fabrication of equipment that needs to be tailor-made to individual’s homes, such as wheelchair ramps
- Storage of equipment
- Provision and maintenance of a catalogue of equipment for use by Occupational Therapy staff in Adult Social Services and PCT's
- Support to Occupational Therapists for training and assessing service users
- Managing contracts with hospitals to supply them with short-term loan equipment
- Provision of an Assistive Technology and Sensory equipment service
- Support for Children's Services service users, primarily for children with physical disabilities
In all these operations we aim to meet, and regularly exceed, the government’s Key Performance Indicator D54 for service delivery levels within 7 days. |
